10 Things I Like about Where I Live

You would think this would be an easy topic, right?  Not so!  I've overthunk it to death!  Where I live is:  my house, my city, my state, my country, my planet.  So...I will list two things for each of these.  And when I am done, I will call my doctor and ask for a prescription for OCD meds because I clearly need them...

  1. My room.  I'm lucky enough to have a room for all the things I love.  It has nice windows, is painted in a perfect shade of green and makes me feel complete whenever I am there.
  2. My kitchen.  Not many people who live in houses of right around 1,000 square feet have a kitchen with almost TWELVE FEET of uninterrupted counter space.  Add lots of big, roomy cupboards and my gothic arch mirror, and my kitchen is practically perfect.
  3. Columbus, Ohio, has the best library system in the nation.  I really, REALLY like that!
  4. The new ballpark, Huntington Park.  I wish I could spend every evening watching baseball, it's that nice and comfortable.
  5. Living in Ohio, I am a day's drive or less from most major cities in the eastern United States.
  6. The Hocking Hills.  Should be included in the natural wonders of the world.
  7. Being able to sing "America, The Beautiful" and meaning it.
  8. Having the freedom to choose who governs our country and the right to gripe and complain if you don't like how they're doing it.
  9. See that "Big Blue Marble" picture of Earth?  I love that I'm a little microscopic dot somewhere in all that beauty.
  10. And there are lots of other microscopic dots...and we don't all look the same, or think the same, or talk the same, or dress the same.  And we live in places as drastically different as jungles, large cities, deserts, and small towns.  Yet we are all fundamentally the same - we are all looking to be happy, at peace and be loved.

  2. Hi Laurie! How did I not know you had a blog! I just love it! I don't knit, but it's so fun to see what you are working on. And I tried to sign up as a follower, but I don't have a Facebook page so I'm not sure how to do that. BTW, I just love what you said about all of us being microscopic dots, but still fundamentally the same. How true!

  4. I love the microscopic dots, too! I LOVE Central Ohio - so much to do, great people (but lousy drivers) decent home prices, good schools. Could sing it's praises for a embarrassingly long time.
