Presenting...The Brattleboro Hat!!!
Pattern: Brattleboro Hat
Yarn: Malabrigo Merino Worsted
Colorway: Stonechat
Purchased at: Temptations
Needles : #8
Made for: Dublin Sip and Knit KAL (but really...for me!)
Date Started: 8/9/10
Date Finished: 8/13/10
Yays: Where to start? This is a really easy pattern that works up quickly and looks more complicated than it really is. The yarn is heavenly to knit with, and I have about a half skein leftover that I'm thinking will become a matching cowl. I'm also thrilled that I was able to use vintage buttons from the family button box on this project. They're a little bigger than what the directions call for, but I like 'em anyway! And while it is a little big on my Head Dummy, the hat fits my head perfectly.
Nays: None, really. My biggest challenge with this project was blocking the band without killing it. I've been blocking lacy shawls all summer, so I'm in the habit of really pulling. After I soaked the band, I actually had to push it in a bit to keep it the right size. It kept wanting to grow an inch or two, and I was a little nervous till it dried.
Happy weekend everyone!
Oh my Yarn it looks amazing!! I love the color!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Is this pattern from "New England Knits"? Brattleboro after Brattleboro, Vermont....a city I'm very familiar with.
ReplyDeleteThis is so nice and worsted weight merino wool? To die for!

Your hat turned out really pretty, great job!
ReplyDeleteLove the hat. I love knitting hats. It's seldom I wear a hat in NM... (sigh).
ReplyDeleteCute! I think I might have to bookmark this pattern for future reference :)
ReplyDeleteit's hard to believe that isn't complicated!! it looks like it would be. at least for me. i love the stuff you post up!
ReplyDeleteI am home now and catching up on my blog reading. You were right - LOTS!! of FOs from your needles. I especially love the hats. Not that I wear hats often or that they look good on me, but I love the quick knit aspect and the many wonderful designs for hats.
ReplyDeleteBlocking hats is tricky, I agree. I went a little overgoard with my Gretel a year ago, sadly. NEVER using a plate to get that "Tam" effect AGAIN.
